ZIMBABWE – BULAWAYO – School authorities at Luveve High allowed a pregnant pupil to attend class until she gave birth and she will sit for the Zimbabwe Schools Examination Council examinations next week, it has emerged.
According to teachers at the school, an Upper Six pupil gave birth on Friday although she has been attending class without being reprimanded. It is believed that a teacher at the school impregnated the girl.
“According to her friends and classmates, she was behaving strangely of late and also swelling of her feet. Some school authorities knew about this hidden pregnancy for the last nine months she was attending lessons,” said a source.
“Rumour has it that she was impregnated by one of the teachers at the school. Time will tell as the truth is yet to be established.”The source said the tolerance of pregnancy of pregnant pupils gave the school bad publicity especially to parents planning to send their children to Luveve High School.
There is poor administration at the school since pupils were impregnated without punitive measures being taken, added the source.“The Government has of late ignored the prevalence of student pregnancies in schools as no action or punishment has been given to such defaulters.
This is not the first time it has happened,” said the source.Contacted for comment Luveve High School headmaster William Ncube, said he was not allowed to discuss such issues with the Press.
“The Ministry (Education Sport, Art and Culture) does not allow me to speak to the Press. You can contact the ministry,” he said.

nyaya dzemapreganancy dzinonetsa. kana musikana asina kutaura oga kuti she is pregnant to the school authorities it is difficult for them to reprimand her or expel her. You cannot also force someone to go for a pregnancy test. you cannot also just go to anyone ane dhumbu hombe woti you are pregnant zvine ma legal implications. So your stories should have focused on the parents or guardians.
