ZIMBABWE – BULAWAYO – Former Amazulu Football Club owner, playboy and businessman Delma Lupepe claims that he is no longer interested in Ménage à trois and dirty dealings. Instead he has found happiness in Jesus.
He is one of the richest men in Zimbabwe and “has seen and done it all”, but the now repentant and God fearing Delma Lupepe, revealed that he would rather have God than money and all his riches are vanity.
In an exclusive interview with zimGossip.com, Lupepe who is a devoted Seventh Day Adventist revealed that his money never brought him peace and happiness until he found Jesus.
“I have money! not that I am boasting, I am only stating a fact and through my money I have seen and done it all, there is nothing you can tell me about life.
There is nothing that I have not done but I am not proud of it. I have been all over the world, stayed at the most expensive hotels, some of the suits I have cost me R30 000 to R40 000. I have driven almost every version of the Mercedes Benz.
Right now I have two Porsche models, a Boxster and a 911 – which if I am not mistaken is the only one in Zimbabwe, but its all nothing and it does not give me joy”.
“I have dated numerous beautiful women but I can tell you I never got any peace or satisfaction from that. I want people out there to know that all that glitters is not gold. It is better to live a humble and sinless life than to have riches that will lead you to death,” said Delma.
Lupepe, who owns Maydeep Investments, which incorporates Merspin, Gloweave and Ascot Clothing Company, likened his life to that of the Biblical prodigal son who asked for his inheritance from his father and went away to a far-away country to squander it all.
“Just like the prodigal son, I was a youth with money and I used it wrongly. I was a slave to sin and like many youths of today I believed that life was one big party but its more than that.
So I am saddened by what the youth aspire to be. Frankly they should know that quality life is not in money, money does not bring any peace – peace comes from knowing God. All the other things are vanity, Solomon was one of the richest and best-dressed men but he admitted that the lilies on the ground were better than him.
“Don’t misunderstand me, God wants us to be prosperous and rich, he has plans for us, plans of prosperity not of harm. But we should know that riches come with responsibility, the prodigal son was irresponsible and I was irresponsible but I am glad that like him I found my senses.”
Delma believes that God gave him money not to buy cars and other worldly material but to use it as a vehicle to preach the gospel.
He said: “I used to hire a private jet from South Africa to come and pick me up for a shopping spree in Johannesburg. I had money, my riotous spending meant I was eating with pigs. That was foolish, now that I am back in my father’s house. I use my money to spread the Advent message and to build churches. Not to buy worldly things, which are worthless.
“Whatever we do in life we must put God first. I thank God for knocking sense into my head before it was too late.”
Asked to reveal the event that led him to repent, Delma refused to divulge his life altering experience, but said: “I repented when I found myself in a situation that made me realise that God does exist.”
However, zimGossip understands that life changing incident that made Delma seek God is when he escaped a kidnap and car-jacking attempt by a group of armed robbers in North End in 2002.
He was also involved in a number of car accidents in which he believes Jesus saved him from the jaws of death.
Delma added that God always had good plans for him that hinged on his repentance, revealing that one of the blessings he has received is his wife Abigail Lupepe who is a dentist.
“Some people are unfortunate that when they were wild, diseases such as AIDS and even death caught up with them. But God smiled on me even when I was still in the wilderness and he gave me a beautiful wife who I love dearly. A good wife comes from God and I encourage the youth to wait on the Lord and he will definitely send them the showers of blessings.”
He reiterated that God is always “looking for an excuse to do good things for us but we have to come back home for that to happen. If you want an education or employment it all belongs to you the secret is to accept God. And after accepting God you have to give him his tithe and offering.
People think it’s a form of extortion but in reality it is a way of recognising that everything you get is from God. And if you are faithful with that he will look after you, tithe is only 10 percent of your earnings.”
Delma also took time to urge the youth to respect their parents and elders, unlike the prodigal son who disrespected his father by asking for his share of the inheritance before his father’s death – “failure to respect parents is a sign that you do not respect God,” he added.
Lupepe is famous for his role in turning the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League (PSL) into a semi-professional league. He introduced incentives for Amazulu Football Club players such as monthly salaries, medical aid, bonuses, training and camping allowances at a time when most clubs just paid winning allowances or salaries based on the number of games played per month. – zimGossip.com

Repent of your sins. Keep the TEN COMMANDMENTS. Do good to God. Pay your TITHES and OFFERINGS, I repeat; TITHES AND OFFERINGS – I tell you, you will never go wrong. But this does not mean you dont experience any problems. Trials and tribulations will continue but our God the Conquerer is always there for us. If you have never seen ISANDLA SIKA THIXO OR MIRACLES FROM GOD, do the above. Please Lupepe, I am looking for ama songs e Messengers’ Quartet like “Why don’t you swing down sweet chariot stop and let me ride” or ingoma zabo Mazabani. Lastly, I want to say to Lupepe – May God Bless you indeed and increase your territory in Jesus Name. You conquered ubu SUMBELUME nge Gama lika Thixo. Take care of your beautiful wife. I thank God ukuthi hatshi bo, wathatha emdeni awulahlekanga. I am not a Seventh Day Adventist but there is one thing I want to comment them for: Girls from Seventh Day Adventist Church abamitha mithi ezikolo and most of them bayatshada and come to Boys, they are just quiet and take their time to get married and marry within church although Delma wasube yinsumbelume kakhulu. For sure you can say it again, those riches are nothing if you dont have GOD. We have orphanage homes, we have poor families all these need assistance. I will definitely get in touch with you. I have a calling from God to look after the orphans. God bless

Blessed be the name of the Lord for ever and ever. From every race, nation, tribe, profession, religion, etc He is calling His own and thank you for saying yes to Jesus. Keep the gospel. Your life is preaching Jesus. You are/have encouraged someone. God will surely bless you abundantly.

Am I missing something here? The story, while inspiring sounds like Delma became a Christian yesterday, last week or last month. Its has always been testified how strong he is as a Christian and how much work he did and coontinues to do for the Church. Is this a plublicity stunt for renewal and repositioning or what?
Comment by Dean — September 14, 2009 @ 8:28 am
Well, i agree with you Dean,we always that he was a strong advent so does that mean during all this time he was living otherwise?Maybe i am lost help there.
Comment by Gushungo — September 14, 2009 @ 9:40 am
Sure, Dean and Gushungo. You are right. Why did Amazulu disintegrated? Because Delma said “NO” to playing the game on Saturday…. I am inspired by what htis man said and what ever he did bad has been forgiven by the Lord. Dont ask where he got the riches because the context of the Story (The storyline) is giving you the background. Thanks Delma but do us a favour brother. Also go to those whom you know have sinned against and ask for forgiveness. If you did that, then God Bless you. I know if you did then you must have been in prison right now. Remember the HowMine saga of 1989? Some Fawcette Guards died in that shoot-out. I am just reminding you lest you forgot. Ask those people for forgiveness! Sorry to say this but we have to finish all that we started “Repenting”

Lupepe has done a lot for the community, besides creating employment he has given out to the society, look at how he trnsformed the Bulawayo Provincial heroes acre in Nkulumane, he made it look respectable though the powers that be have not been able to maintain it to acceptable standards.

And sadly those who judge Delma are equally sinning for they may be not as holy either. beware of what you say, for God shall judge each action and word you say…Instead of criticising the ills of yesteryear, lets cherish the transformation. The church is for sinners who come and repent for a new life and are not ashamed of it…. as what Delma is saying..read the article well..Holy ones just go to heaven. Iam not adventist nor know Delma, but I know what he said by his mouth is what God wants to hear..and definately the peace and Joy in Christ will make him enjoy his wealth more!!!

Do something productive with that money to show that you love God with your riches. Teach the young about HIV free life styles and introduce programmes that are going to save souls for the kingdom and lives fro the pandemic.Talk also to the elite group with loaded wallets about your smart move. If our nation was being run by wise men who know God we would be in a favourable spot with God. You have a lot to do in the kingdom mate, you aint started yet.

You might be a christian for years without Jesus,Thank God Delma admits he has repented and found Jesus he admits that he was a sinner, this is exactly what God wants and everything becomes new when you get born again the old sins are forgotten. So ukuthi u Delma imali yakhe wayizuza njani its not important now.The challenge is for him to show true repentance and live a Christ like life full of love and righteousness.God bless you Lupepe for being so bold by telling the world the truth.

The story of Delma is a true story of those who truely seek and find the face of Jesus, Well done brother, I was once like you and thanks for taking this bold discission. Am celebrating 4 years of good christian values and works and my wish is for my name and yours to be in the book of life,
You have really encouraged someone and biblically it is written that those who are ashamed of me in front of man, I shall be ashamed of them in front of my father—that was Jesus saying.

Lepepe you are right, God loves you and your family continue worshiping and seeking God with your whole heart. The devil is not happy that you left him so he will continue to pursue after you but resist him and he will flee. You are a born again person do not let people bring you down by reminding you of your past, the devil is a liar. The devil is angry because even this testimony will bring many to Christ.
Comment by A siriya — September 17, 2009 @ 1:31 am
I am encouraged that Delma realises that God did not give him money to buy worldly things but to use it to spread God’s love. My advice to him is that he should start of by getting rid of the flashy cars and other worldly possessions he does not need and use the money for good causes. The flashy cars and other things he mentions are but symbols of worldly pleasures which are not consistent with being a born again christian. I am not suggesting that you sell everything overnight but ask God to give you wisdom as you dismantle the empire the devil helped you build.
Comment by Mac Torino — September 17, 2009 @ 8:35 am

Mr Delma, forgive me for asking. I have met people who profess to know you, your background, your history etc. What I need to know is is it true that your Sirname should be MATEREKE from Gutu??? Just out of interest but those that spoke about it seem to speak from good authority. If so, whats wrong with the world knowing who you really are….as a Christian, that would not be a sin hey????

Praise be to God almighty for a inspiring testimony, its not easy to unravel an ugly past. One thing for sure is that each man must find their God & ask for forgiveness for their own sins (we dont know of).
CJ, sounds like you are hurting, u’ve commented too many times.Just go & ask for money from Dee.
Lupepe dont listen to the devil ( reincarnated as commentaries) reminding you of the past, Christ cast those inequities as far as east is from west.
Celebrate you new life with the Dr & may the Lord bless the produce of thine hand!
