The incident happened three months ago but the couple was only arrested last week when a headman walking in a bush came across human remains.
Officer Commanding Police in Victoria Falls district Chief Superintendent Regis Munyaradzi confirmed the incident.

He said police arrested 50-year-old Mica Mpofu and his wife Eva Moyo in connection with the alleged murder of Mr Zephaniah Mpofu (44).
“The now deceased Zephaniah Mpofu was last seen by villagers and some of his family members on 23 April when he was coming from the grinding mill,” he said.

Chief Supt Munyaradzi said it was later learnt that Zephaniah was murdered and dumped in the bush after a headman in the area ran into some human bones that were scattered all over in a bushy area while he was looking for fibre last week.

“The headman then went and made a report to the police and investigations plus a national identity card that was later found within the vicinity helped the family identify him as Zephaniah Mpofu,” he said.

He said that Mpofu and his wife later confessed to killing him on the night of 23 April after he came back from the grinding mill.“Moyo said after Zephaniah came back from the grinding mill, one of the tyres had deflated and the tube had been damaged and she confronted him.

“They argued and that did not go down well with Moyo who later told her husband. The two of them had a heated argument with Zephaniah later that night which resulted in the two teaming up to beat him using clenched fists and knobkerries resulting in his death,” he said.
