THE MDC-T officials who were recently recalled from their ministerial posts might have something to smile about after all, as it has emerged that they will be allowed to buy the Government vehicles they were using while in office.

Although full details on the ministers’ exit packages are still sketchy, former Housing and National Amenities Minister Mr Fidelis Mhashu last week confirmed that they had been given the chance to purchase the vehicles they were using during their short tenure.

Mr Mhashu, however, indicated that CMED (Private) Limited was still to fix the prices for the top-of-the-range Mercedes-Benz vehicles.

“The issue has since been communicated. We are retaining the official vehicles. CMED is still working on the value of the vehicles,” said Mr Mhashu.

Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai recently recalled four ministers to his party, promoted one and reshuffled eight others saying the changes were meant to strengthen service delivery. Engineer Elias Mudzuri, formerly the Minister of Energy and Power Development, Mr Thamsanqa Mahlangu (former Deputy Minister of Youth Development, Indigenisation and Empowerment) and Ms Evelyn Masaiti (former Deputy Minister of Women’s Affairs, Gender and Community Development) also lost their positions amid reports that they had been demoted to MDC-T structures.

Eng Mudzuri was replaced by Mr Elton Mangoma, who was previously the Minister of Economic Planning and Investment Promotion.
Mr Mhashu said details on the monetary package were still to be communicated to them in full
