A MAN whose arms were amputated was arrested on Monday for allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl.
The police spokesperson for Matabeleland North Province, Inspector Trust Ndlovu, said the suspect aged 38 and the complainant are neighbours in Sojini Village in Mbembesi.
“Sometime in December 2009 at about 10am, the accused invited the girl to his home and requested her to cook for him. He also asked her to clean his house,” said Insp Ndlovu.
He said while the girl was sweeping, the suspect allegedly pushed her from the back using his elbow.
“The girl fell down and the accused covered the complainant with his elbow and raped her once,” said Insp Ndlovu.
He said when the man was raping the girl another 16-year-old girl from the neighbourhood arrived at the homestead and found him in the act.
“The suspect then threatened both girls with death if they reported the matter to the police,” said Insp Ndlovu.
He said the matter only came to light on Monday when the girl narrated her ordeal to her brother.
“On Monday the girl finally decided to tell her brother what had happened. A report was then made to the police, resulting in the arrest of the suspect who is now assisting police with investigations,” he said.
“With the rise of rape cases, we would like to urge women and girls to treat every man as a potential rapist to avoid such cases.”

Regardless of the circumstances of the act/crime/ happening whichever ‘t was, the legal age of consent in Zim is 16 which makes it impossible for the girl to have legally consented and that makes it rape. my 2p

Disability does not mean INABILITY. If a person without hands can write, why do you think he cant zip down his pant? What I have realised with disabled people, they are very strong. Simba remawoko its either rakaita move to his mouth, legs, etc. Dont rule this out. This guy had already planned to rape this girl. He pinned this girl with his knees etc. I can imagine. If a dumb person can give witness to a rape case, what more uyu anotaura? Mbofu chairo can rape.
