Police are looking for a Zimbabwean citizen who allegedly beat his girlfriend to death after finding out she was using birth control medication.
Rooiberg police spokesman Inspector Enock Mudzili said the man beat his 31-year-old girlfriend at their house in Kromdraai in Limpopo for more than eight hours using sticks and cables.
Mudzili said the two went to a clinic on Wednesday, where he learnt that she was on birth control medication. This apparently upset him and caused an argument between them.
He started beating her at 8am on Thursday, using wooden sticks and electrical cable.
“The beating went on until 4 pm when the woman fainted and he dragged her into the house and fetched fire wood which he also used to further assault her,” said Mudzili.
He then locked her and a friend in the house, telling the friend that he was going to buy airtime.
“He threatened the friend that he will kill her if she leaves,” said Mudzili.
The girlfriend subsequently died in the house from her injuries.
“The [other] woman remained there till it was dark and she went and slept in the bush.”
The following morning she alerted the suspect’s co-worker who with the help of friends contacted the police.
The suspect fled the scene and police suspect that he might be hiding at either his brother in Rustenburg or a friend in Polokwane.
The police appealed to anybody who might know where the suspect is to contact Inspector Maluleka at 082-414-2404.

this man is a disgrace, he should have talked it over, but anyway he might have sine we do not the detail of the story, but beating her up is not a solution, but whats done is done now, it’s a shame though. women are people jus like men, i say if a couple can not communicate, there is no point in being together

I can almost estimate your age and it is evident to me that you are in zimbabwe by default because of your tribal mind. who told you the guy who killed a girlfriend is a ndebele, what comment were you going to give when one wrestler/boxer killed his wife and others on after christmass in 1994 in harare, sad was he a ndebele, tonga or kalanga, you only have heart for woman who are being killed why are you not having heart for the thousands of ndebeles who were killed, was it ndebele killing ndebele. please let us have open minds when we say some of these statements. l feel you are too young or not mature to make comments on tribal lines.

thank you commenter 8 i am glad there are people who have good brains at home i am a 19yaer old shona and there has been spouse abuse in mashonaland for as long as i can remember this is not about who does it but why they did it all thats important is for this kinda animosity to ennd coz it only go from generation to generation and the cycle is never broken and women if you spouse is abusing you pliz report him or leave him you can even find that you are better of alone than with a man who batters you its not worth the abusive marriage and remember its you life at stake he might start with a fist but tomorrow its an axe you are special nomatter how he makes you feel and dear commentors stop commenting silly things annd be logical some issues are serious here you might help by printing something nice for a change
