A drinking binge ended nasty on Christmas Day after a 72-year-old woman was raped by a colleague she had been drinking kachasu with, in full view of her grandson.
The granny, in a drunken stupor, never noticed that she had been raped had it not been for her seven-year-old grandson who advised others.
The 57-year old suspect, Freddy Chiveza Kagurura, has since been arrested and is assisting police with investigations.
Mashonaland Central police spokesperson Inspector Memory Pamire confirmed the incident saying Kagurura started drinking kachasu with his victim at around 2pm at a homestead at Chatadza Village, Chief Chiswiti in Mukumbura.
At around 9pm, the owner of the homestead at which they were drinking retired to bed, leaving the pair behind.
Kagurura took advantage of that and raped the drunken granny.
All hell broke loose after the granny’s seven-year-old grandson, who witnessed the rape, alerted a neighbourhood watch committee member.
The neighbourhood watch committee member attended the scene and arrested Kagurura. He is detained at Mukumbura Police Station and is expected to appear in court soon.

The police must arrest all three; rapist the one raped and the owner of the house charge them for drinking and producing kachasu, its an offence. Then charge the rapist with rape if the magogo wants to press charges. May be the young child saw what he was not supposed to see.
