SEVEN people, three of them men, yesterday appeared in court facing a charge of soliciting for the purpose of prostitution. They were remanded out of custody on their own cognisance to today.
Jabulani Ndlovu (28) of 472 Nguboyenja, Godknows Mwinde (24) of 94 Bentwood Road, Matsheumhlope, Norman Mudenda (26) of 99 Bentwood Road, Sikhathele Ngwenya (30) of 14825 Selbourne Park, Memory Dlamini (20) of 7559/10 Tshabalala, Doreen Donga (31) of 2010 St Columbus and Beatrice Ncube (27) of Kwekwe were not formally charged when they briefly appeared before Bulawayo magistrate, Mr Singandu Jele.
The six, who are being charged with contravening Section 81 (1) (a) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act, Chapter 9.23, indicated that they were not admitting to the charge.
The court interpreter had to put the charge more than once with the suspects indicating that they did not know what was being talked about.
It is the State’s case as presented by the prosecutor, Mr Victor Mpofu, that in the early hours of Saturday, police officers were doing patrols within the city centre when they met the seven.
They were arrested at different places in the city centre and the State alleges that they were soliciting for the purposes of prostitution.
They were taken to Bulawayo Central Police Station but they could not raise money to pay deposit fines resulting in them being taken to court, the court heard.

Your heading is misleading and based on assumptions
Story unclear and does not deserve all these comments. Lots of infor missing to come to a conclusion.

My people, my people, vanhu vorudzi rwangu. You are in ZImbabwe where police are just arresting people for nothing with the hope to get bribes they are using to cater for their families. there is no evidence that indicates kuti they were prostitutes, these guys were not even caught at the same place, but at different places doing what? if they were with women caught in the act then that should be stated. lets not be huked up nezvinhu zvisina maturo. hapana nyaya apa tipeiwo ma seriuos
