The self-proclaimed Mhangura prophet who last week allegedly stabbed his lover to death and attempted to sell her private parts after accusing her of infidelity appeared before a Chinhoyi magistrate on Tuesday facing murder charges.
Elias Kurapwi (23) of Vred Farm in Doma is accused of stabbing his girlfriend of five years, Mable Zireva, in the neck and stomach before cutting off her private parts and trying to sell them to a commercial farmer.
Magistrate Mr Tendai Muchini remanded Kurapwi in custody to December 21.He was advised to apply for bail at the High Court due to the nature of the charge he is facing.
The State is alleging that Kurapwi and Zireva were at a love nest on November 30 at around 10pm.Kurapwi allegedly accused Zireva of having an affair with a rival “prophet” and lured her to a secluded place at Muni Farm in Mhangura.
While there, it is alleged, he pulled out a knife and stabbed her several times in the neck and stomach.The State says she died on the spot.
It is further alleged that Kurapwi cut off her private parts, removed her toenails and placed the items in a plastic bag.Kurapwi allegedly dragged the corpse to a burrow and covered it with tree branches.
On Monday last week, he allegedly took the private parts to Muni farmhouse and approached Dion Benuiddenhout.It is said he offered to sell the parts to the farmer.
Benuiddenhout reportedly pretended to be interested in buying them but said he did not have any cash on him and needed to go to Chinhoyi Town to withdraw money from the bank.
The State says Kurapwi agreed to the arrangement.However, when Benuiddenhout got to Lions Den, he went straight to the police and reported the matter leading to Kurapwi’s arrest.
The State says he revealed to police investigators where he had hidden the corpse.The private parts are being held as an exhibit.

These prophets should simply be banned. Some are caught with live and deadly cobras, some with vaginas and toes, some with kids legs etc. There are so many unreported rape cases by these pple becoz victims are threatened with supernatural powers. This should just come to an end . I wonder what sort of laws do our so called legislators debate on in parliament besides trying to undo each other. This social evil should be discussed urgently with heavy penalties recommended.

The police why keeping these body parts as exhibit, and yet you found the body which I beleave the accused have agreed to have killed why then further humiliating the victim by exposing her private parts. I think if you want exhibit bring the body not the parts.Be human and respect.

There are so many of these churches calling themselves vapostori, these are fake small groups that started a few years ago. The real apostles are not about money, so don’t confuse these people. There are a lot of fake prophets out there, don’t confuse them with the honest big churches of god.

False prophets, just like the guy who calls himself Bishop Climate who operates in Edinburgh and London. He is manipulating and abusing desperate Zimbabweans. He preaches witchcraft and decons everytime to instil fear. His church is 10 yrs but with only 17 permanent members.He is real scandalous guy.

Thanks Chikomba. I found it also strange for the government of Zimbabwe to keep these private parts for exhibit at court. The accused has agreed to have done that. Please I ask in Jesus Name that pse have those private parts buried with the victim. Just imagine the relatives will be at court, and that exhibit is shown to them. One will ask what is in there, and just imagine the answer.
