By Chloe Griffiths-AN HIV-POSITIVE man who raped a woman after forcing his way into her home was jailed for 10 years.Twisted Victor Nkomo, 43, even claimed he was a marine and that he would kill his 25-year-old victim while keeping her hostage in her Kensington flat.
She only escaped after persuading Nkomo to accompany her to a shop, where she knew there was CCTV, to buy cigarettes. She told staff she had been attacked and took shelter until police arrived.
Following his arrest, Nkomo claimed it had been consensual, saying he had admitted his HIV status and had agreed to wear two condoms. But Liverpool Crown Court jurors rejected his lies and convicted him of rape after DNA evidence proved he had not worn any protection.
His victim was left with an agonising wait to see if she had contracted the disease.Carmel Wilde, prosecuting, said after a series of treatments it had been confirmed the woman had not caught the disease.
High court judge Mr Justice King said: “I have very much in mind the entire circumstances of intimidation, violence and threats, that you held the victim hostage, and the fact you were HIV-positive.”
He added: “In your pre-sentence report, you hold yourself out as a very up-standing member of the community and a Christian. On this occasion you fell well below such a status.”
The judge also considered a previous offence in West Yorkshire from 2003 when Nkomo followed a 17-year-old girl into a telephone box and assaulted her.But he told Nkomo, of Laurel Road, Edge Hill, he put of out his mind previous rape allegations against him that had never come to court.
Mr Justice King said “he had no doubt” Nkomo had taken advantage of his drunken victim as she left a 21st birthday party at the Liverpool Arms, on the city’s James Street.
The pair had got a taxi to her home, but when she tried to stop him entering Nkomo forced his way in and started to attack her. The woman was rescued after a friend heard her screams.
Nkomo left the property, but returned in the early hours of March 1 and forced his way in and attacked her.Mr Justice King said he would leave the decision whether Zimbabwean-born Nkomo should be deported in the hands of the Secretary of State.

This man is better than some silent killers who go about spreading Aids to unknown should i say desperate women out there.you women why a u so desperate to get married or fall in love.You are better off as single than married especially if you are unlucky in love zvaramba zvaramba mhani why force muri kuzadwza gwembe nevamurikufunga kuti mawana.They come to you as sheep in wolves.They are killers.I feel sorry for people i know who are going out with Aid patients.And i find it hard to confront them and alert them of what they are playing with.However my advice is, Protect yourself what so ever, if they love you they will wear condoms, and before you agree to their marriage proposals, Tests first at least 3 musati maita flesh to flesh.Stay Safe.its your life, live it

@lets talk about it.as much as i agree with the wise words u said,i do disagree that u dont tell the victims who are unaware of their found loved ones.i think its unfair.how are u gonna feel to hear they hav been infected??are u not gonna feel guilty?they are many ways to tell and still remain anonymous.i hope u get what im trying to say there.but thanks anyway for the good strong advice to women.To ladies who can listen to me:pls let it be by accident that we catch aids and std s.BeWISE!!BEWARE.
